By definition, pneumatic cylinders are mechanical devices used in numerous process technology applications to achieve consistent and cost-effective movement on a defined linear stroke. These actuators are made of a body and a piston actuated by air and/or spring and apply a force as a function of their bore diameter and air pressure.

As part of the range, Festo offers many standards-based cylinders with standardized dimensions and mounting interfaces:

• ISO standard profile cylinders ISO 15552 and ISO 6432
• Round cylinders, rectangular extruded profile cylinders, compact cylinders (for limited-space applications) or flat format cylinders
• Specific applications: For chemically-corrosive applications, food/beverage and pharmceuticals production (hygienic design) and heat-resistant, up to +120°C (240°F) / +150°C (302°F)
