Fieldbus couplers / heads (also known as remote I/O “RIO” controllers) allow an automation system to include groups of I/Os (any of combination of digital inputs DIs, digital outputs DOs, analog inputs AIs, and analog outputs Aos) that are located away from the control system CPU, through an industrial communication network.
